Fun Facts: We live in Deltona and love it! The city of Deltona, Florida was founded in 1962 as “Deltona Lakes.” A man named George Sauls and his family were the first settlers in the area back in 1855. As a matter of fact, George Sauls Street in Deltona is where his homestead was until it caught fire in 1970. The official flower of Deltona is the Red Ruffle Azalea. The official bird is the Florida Scrub Jay. If you like water, there are eight swamps and lakes surrounding Deltona. These days many of the lakes have dried up a lot but there is still some good fishing in some of them as our boys can attest! 🙂
